Getting Gas

With gas being over $1 more per gallon than this time last year, I seem to pay more attention to people when I am filling up my truck. Although I am lucky enough to not to have to travel much, I guess that makes me pay more attention when I do.

So this time I was to fill up my tank at my “favorite” station, I noticed that the gas was 6 cents cheaper than it was directly across the street. My choice is clear, buy gas from the cheaper supplier.? Right.

The catch is, people were lined up 7 or eight deep waiting here to get gas. No lines at the competitor.
My truck has a 15 gallon tank, which if completely empty, would make the price difference of about 90 cents if I bought the cheaper gas. But of course I would have to wait in line maybe 15 minutes for this (as everyone else was doing). And because it was near 90 degrees outside, most of them kept their vehicles running for the AC.

In my mind, that 15 min of waiting, and running my truck far under weighed the almost 90 cents that I would be paying for convenience and getting out of the way of the herd.

Im just saying.

Living in the “country”, we still have barbers. You know, the place where MEN go and get their hair buzzed. They dont sell “products”, or have Hot Stone Treatments, or even plush couches for relaxing. You are there for a reason, to get a haircut, so there is a barber chair, and if your lucky, enough steel frame chairs to sit on.

So, I was in dire need of a haircut and there I was, walking into my barber’s shop only to see that one family of a father, 2 sons, and mother were waiting in “line”. The only problem was that each of them had one chair between them, and one on each side at the ends, so those 4 people “took” all 9 seats.

I stood for a while.
